The Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation is pleased to
announce the selection of Pepper Peterson as the 2008 Limited Edition
Edmonds Arts Festival poster artist.
Peterson’s comments on her talent: "Painting is both the
agony and the ecstasy. Nothing is better than the high I get from creating
a painting I like a lot. Nothing can put me into a funk quicker than
if I paint a failure. I guess I can’t help myself. It’s
an addiction at this point in my life.”
Watercolor, pastel pigment, oil and oil sticks are Peterson’s
mediums. Vivid clear color is striking in every painting. Experimenting
with the use of color is a large part of her painting process.
Her work is being shown regularly at Cole Gallery and Artists’
Supply on Fifth in Edmonds where she was one of the initial premiere
artists. Gallery owner and fellow artist Denise Cole comments, “Anyone
who meets Pepper and sees her work would say she is one of the most
lively and colorful artists they’ve ever met.”
Always keeping her viewpoint fresh and lively she has taken classes
or workshops with Michelle Cooper, Cathe Gill, Deanne Lemley, Nancy
Bogni, Nancy Fulton, Ned Mueller Eric Weigardt, Arne Westerman, Doug
Dawson, Susan Ogilvie, Henry Stinson and others. A member of Washington
Artists Group, Women Painters of Washington, Northwest Watercolor Society,
and the Northwest Pastel Society, Peterson participates in a wide variety
of group and one person art exhibits throughout the region.
The EAF Museum gallery will highlight the work of Pepper Peterson during
the 51st Edmonds Arts Festival, June 13, 14 and 15. In addition, arts
patrons will have an opportunity to meet Pepper at the annual preview
event, Thursday, June 12th at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main
Street, Edmonds, WA.
